Hi I am going to a networking event which is organized by the business school at my university. I am studying commerce with a concentration in economics (Bcomm, major Economics).
I am reading online that it is important that have a good 20sec introduction speech prepared of yourself, but I am having difficulty with this. Many given examples are of graduate students, and since I am only undergrad, I don't have experience working in my field, so I can't really be specific about what my skills are in economics.
Some basic info about me is that I have a major in Econ, I'm in the business school. Other than this I am involved in the Conservative campus club (for students on the right of the political spectrum) and I am also a student-athlete on the Cross-Country running team. However, I don't know if any of this information is relevant! On the other hand, its not like I have experience in my field I can talk about, but I also don't want to talk about irrelevant stuff.
What do you think? My only jobs have really just been student jobs working in retail or so (from 15- un til now, 21 years of age).
Furthermore, and tips on what to ask companies to get them talking at this event?
Thanks,
J
