I'm 18 and just finished my first year of college and I'm back home this summer. As I am not taking classes and or pursuing an internship, I am just looking for some basic minimum wage jobs -- I am not picky at all. I just want to make a bit of money over the summer. (I actually am working and have worked at a learning center, but it is only open 7hrs/week -- I am looking for more hours. I do not have any other work experience). Does anyone have any tips for me? I have applied to almost 30 places (primarily fast-food restaurants) over the past couple days and have not heard back from any. I know the economy is in a very poor condition, but is there any chance that I will be able to get any job this summer? I didn't think it would be this hard to get a job at McDonalds, yet I have applied to three of them and not heard back. Any tips/advice? How long should I be waiting to hear back from places?

Try seasonal jobs, like working at a waterpark or someother place that's busy only during the summer, it kinda depends on your location.
