Tingling face

I didn't know what this falls under or see a board that fits so I hope posting it here is right.

Anyway, since 2AM this morning (21 hours ago) my face has been tingling. Only the left side. Including my lip, my ear, my eye, sometimes my head. It feels well..tingly, like pins and needles. Kind of how you feel after you've been to the dentist..when it's almost but not completely worn off. The anethetic (sp?). I would be at the the ER if it was numb, but it is not..just tingles. I did a search and the closet thing it seems to be is Bells Palsy.

I did call ER to ask if I should go get checked out or if it'd be okay to wait and call doctor in the morning but they told me they couldn't give medical advice over the phone and they really were no help. I decided seems having no job, no money and no insuarance I'd wait seems the ER is very expensive.

So any ideas what it is or sounds like, anyone ever experienced this before? It's driving me nuts but mostly becasue it's making me uneasy not knowing how serious it is..especially being an anxiety sufferer.

I have had this from time to time. It is scary but mine seemed to have been my allergies or acid reflux. Both of those can press on nerves in your face. The acid reflux can make my jaw, cheeks and up to my ear tingle. It's weird. So try not to be too alarmed. I would wait it out a little bit as long as you don't have any other weird symtoms. Good luck!

with this type of an "sudden onset" symptom, you really do have to kind of err on the side of just making certain this is not an underlying symptom of something possibly impending? i really am suprised that the ER did not actually tell you to at least come in to be evaled. have you been experiencing ANY real head pain or ANY other symptoms or just that tingling sensation? this could be a possible nerve thing or vascular thing just considering how far spread the tingling goes, you know what i mean? it just encompasses a very large area that would possibly more vascular than nerve if you look at how the specific nerves run. i would however look up that trigeminal nerve as i seem to recall that the specific area you are having this in kind of sounds like THAT specific area of coverage. just look up images and then compare this to your areas of affectation right now, just to see if this IS the specific area that the tri actually innervates. it would at least possibly narrow down the nerve anyways.

but at the very least here,i would see your primary doc just to make certain that YOU are okay? there can be alot of different reasons for this type of thing to actually occur, they just need some ruling out to be 100% certain where this is stemming from. if at ANY time from here on out you should actually feel any sudden onset head pain, get yourself to the closest ER asap. this could just possibly be a sign of what could be something a bit more serious within your brain or you could also be suffering what is called a TIA, or mini stroke? you just really need to watch how this all plays out and then do what is needed to get medical attention if you should feel something just is not 'right' inside your head? hopefully this will just go away on its own, but if it persists, you may need some in depth testing to find out just what is going on on the inside. good luck and please keep us posted. Thanks. I called regular doctor, I can't get in until October...so they reccomended I go to ER. Noone will give me medical advice over the phone, *sigh* I have intentions of going ER tonight when I have someone to watch my daughter..going to cost me way too much..but I'm stressing over it, thinking about it.

Other symptoms..I woke up in nigt/morn w/ heart burn (I never get heartburn), my nose kind of burns when my face tingles and I sneezed a lot yesterday. Oh and upset stomach for 2 days. I have a very slight headache but I think it's from lack of sleep and a VERY stressful day.

considering everything,i seriously WOULD just get this all evaluated in the ER very soon. you just sound like you are having alot of different types of symptoms here that may or may not even be all related. thats where some testing comes in that they simply can do at an ER that you would not be able to even get done at a primary clinic. this is really sounding much more somehow 'nerve" related to me from what you have added here as symptoms. now its kind of a matter of tracking back the symptoms to what would or could be generating them. thats kind of how any doc arrives at any real true dx of anything really. good luck at the ER and please do keep us posted. try not to worry about the financial side of things right now. i know it does matter here, but YOU and your health should always come first, espescially when you are just having the types of symptoms you are right now. with some types of issues, if you wait can become much more involved and much more expensive in the long run to treat. so getting this figured out now vs later just makes sense too ya know?
