Timing belt skipping on 91 Dodge Stealth RT Turbo?

To summarize a really long story, I bought this car in December 2008. In February 2009, I decided, as preventive maintenance, to change the timing belt. I got parts off ebay, from a reputable shop, and had them installed at a dealership, thinking they'd know the car inside out. The tensioner failed, I took it back, got warranty for most of the repairs, and drove the car home. I live 110 miles from the city I had the work done. The car made it about 90 miles before throwing the belt and kissing the valves into oblivion. I sent it back to the dealer, who ended up charging me a bunch of money for unnecessary work, and I sent the car to another shop. This time I had to rebuild the entire engine, new crank and pistons and everything. I drove the car for 10 days, then it skipped teeth on the camshafts again, ruining the head. Warranty fixed this again. Now, my question is: this is the fourth new timing belt, tensioner, and associated parts in the last 6 months. The latest mechanics called Mitsubishi experts who advised a different method of tightening the timing belt. So far, I have managed to make it home with nothing really weird except the check engine light came on after 50 miles, and when I stopped for gas, the engine "idled" at 1500 RPM for like 10 minutes, before settling down to a normalish 800 RPM. What could be causing that, and am I going to be having the timing belt skip again?
Anyone wanna buy a 91 Stealth with $8500 into the motor? lol
I should add, out of the 4 tensioners, 3 have been OEM parts. This last try (I hate putting it that way) they called a Mitsubishi expert for the proper procedure. They had missed one step the time before this, so hopefully all will be good...
