(CNN) -- New York City police officers trying to subdue an agitated man Saturday night fired three shots, wounding two women instead at Times Square, authorities said.
The women ages 54 and 35 were taken to hospital. A bullet hit one on the right knee while the other one suffered a grazed wound on her buttocks.
Police struck the man with a Taser, and took him to hospital as "an emotionally disturbed person."
