Not sure if this belongs here in the "Life Sucks" forum, but, I suppose it could go either way, I am not really sure.

First off, I think this is the first time I've posted on these forums since I graduated high school last year, it has been a while. I do still see some familiar posters, so that is a good thing.

Anywho, after ten months of employment at RadioShack (I hate the job, not the company, it really can be a damn good company to work for if you are in the right area and/or store but that isn't the point of this post) and realizing that I'm too cool...or adhd, for school, I have decided to pack my shit and leave the house and area that I spent the first 19 years of my life in.

I do have a job lined up, financially I am not worried. I'm just not sure if this is the right thing for me to do right now, but I have committed and there is really no turning back, I just need to try really hard to prevent myself from becoming a friendless MMO addicted hermit. I've lived that life a few times before and not getting laid sucks. lolz.

At any rate, I suppose the best part about this move is that I have about 15 days of awesome fun douche-baggery ahead of me because my reputation sure isn't following me to Pennsylvania.

Wish me luck!

Thanks guys!

Sorry DG, I know, I suck :( .

With all the time I spent away I figured you'd of hit the 20k post mark by now, DG, I think you're slacking!

Don't get me wrong Pick, it's a great company to work for, whether you're in school trying to get some extra income or looking for a full time career opportunity, because they promote only from within etc and stuff.

HOWEVER it is hard to judge RS as a whole. There are over 5000 stores in the US, 95% of all Americans live of work within 5 minutes driving distance of a RadioShack. That being said, every manager runs his or her store their way, on top of that, about 20% give or take of your income at RS is commission based. So, the store you work in has a huge bearing on what you are going to get out of the company.

If you manage to get in to a high traffic $1M/year+ store and you are a good sales person, you are going to make a decent amount of cash just as an associate, with that said, the more money you make for yourself, the more money you will be making for the company, the more your higher ups are going to like you, the better your chances for advancement. It's really all about the location.

But even in a low traffic strip store, unless you suck, as an associate you should be able to pull out at least $10/hour average. However, if you get in to a high traffic store in a high income area, it's not unusual to see high performing associates making MORE than their managers even.

RadioShack just kind of boned me. Well, it was situational, I was more of a victim of circumstance. My brother actually ended up landing the manager position in the high traffic mall store I was working and climbing the ranks in, thus, I was forced to transfer to a nearby, much shittier store.

I still hold the training and experience I received at RadioShack at very high esteem, and it definitely got my foot in the door for other opportunities.
