Time stamp on myspace email history - tricky question?

I have a question regarding myspace email history. I've noticed that when you send an email to someone, and they reply to your email with an email history, the time your original email was sent is denoted in the timezone of the recipient.

For example, if I send an email to a friend at 10am who is in a country 8 hours behind my country, the email history will say my email was sent at 2am.

So for my question. Someone I know told me they were travelling to Egypt, 8 hours behind where I am. But I noticed the email history is showing a 16 hour time difference between when I send the email, and when they receive it, putting them in the US. Is it possible that by logging into myspace.com in Egypt, that myspace might be picking up the US timezone in the email history rather than the Egyptian timezone? Or will myspace always pick up the timezone on the computer in which you are logging in?

Thanks a lot for any help you can give!!!

Well, from what i remember of myspace, you pick a timezone when you register, or maybe later on. I dont think it changes with location where your logged on, but instead where your timezone is set for your account. Your friends must be set at the US, so there is no time difference. I think this is right, but i could be wrong.

I worked on the new MySpace email project up until I was terminated without notice last month.

The simple answer is: MySpace is F*#KED UP!

But seriously, this sounds like a sort of a bug that they didn't think was worth worrying about as long as your own mailbox looks correct. They had a lot of timestamp issues, so it could be one of many reasons. But my guess is that it's just slop.
