Time period in which The Secret Garden takes place?

I looked up Indian earthquakes and have narrowed it down to the 1897 or 1905 quake that would be in this story does anyone know for sure? Thanks.

The earthquake is actually a device that is used in the movie and never took place in the book. You're dates are still most likely within the range that the setting was supposed to take place, however.
