I have a tightening, kind of burning in the back of the throat, and it almost feels like it is in my left ear also. I ate chicken soup, and like a dummy added this hot sauce. It is happening intermittantly, but it scares me because I feel like it's just ANOTHER symptom. I will try to take anxiety meRAB to see if this helps. It kind of feels like a pulled muscle in my throat. The same thing is in my stomach on the right side under my rib cage. Kind of like something is tugging and if I stretch my stomach, something may rip! I have been told I have GERD and I have a hiatal hernia also. I take 20 mg of omeprazole twice a day, nasal spray, Flonase, and also gas X for the bloating and gas pain. Does anyone else experience the throat thing. Also, when I talk for awhile my throat feels like a rubber band that is stretched so far it's about to break. Thanks for any input.

Karatemom, :)

I am sorry you are going through this.
Your symptoms are very common in people with GERD and a hiatal hernia. I also have both of these conditions. It is interesting how our symptoms seem to change through time. They seem to vary as we go through certain phases of these conditions. Some of the symptoms completely disappear after a time, only to be replaced with new ones. One thing is for sure-there's no shortage of symptoms to make our lives miserable! :(

You might also notice bulges in your tummy from time to time. I have them. I assume it is the hernia at certain times, when it protrudes into the chest. The first time it happened it really scared me. It looked as if something was getting ready to break free and jump right through the skin. I had to physically push it back. These bulges/spasms can be painful. Besides the occassional bulges or gastric pain, I often feel hard knots in the area just below the breast bone with my hand. This happens especially when my stomach is swollen. How is your breathing? Many people find that these types of problems affect their breathing.

Sorry I don't have anything more helpful to offer. I hope you will feel better soon!

I had (and still do) have loaRAB of issues with my ear, throat and sinus due to GERD/LPR. Shortness of breath at times too. Finally, my voice is ok but I do find there's times it sort of goes away while talking a long time. I started drinking a certain juice that I can not write on line but I swear that is when my voice came back normal. Not to say I'm cured for sure but after being hoarse for 10 yrs, it was a miracle to get my voice back.

Thanks you two for the input. My breathing is great. I am 98%-100% as far as the oxygen test they do with your index finger at the doctor. Sometimes it feels a little wheezy. I get that tightening when I talk for along time. As weird as it sounRAB, I think I am not relaxing my throat muscle enough while talking and that's why it happens. OR maybe the acid rises up while your talking?? hmm. About the juice, I didn't know you aren't suppose to name branRAB or meRAB on here. Is that right?

Thanks again. It's nice to have someone to discuss these issues with since hubby has heard it all.
