I got a ticket in Raleigh driving down a residential area to cut thru the traffic of the busy streets. Unfortunately, i was just cruising along when i got pulled over (apparently there have been speed complaints in the area....oops.)

The cop was nice enough to write me up for 9 miles over the speed limit (39 in a 30.) The fine is $10 with $121 in court costs for a total on $131. I have been told that because this is 9 miles over, and not 10, that i can pay the fine and not get penalized points on my license on my insurance.

This is my 2nd ticket of this kind in 2 years. The first was the same, 9 miles over, and I paid it. This is the 2nd. I also had a 80+ speeding ticket that i got a lawyer for, paid $300 and made it go away, but this time - i got no lawyer letters, which tells me this is a minor and uninteresting case.

Should I pay the fine, or get a lawyer to make it go away, if it's only 9 miles over the speed limit?
