i have a 2003 pontiac grand am gt with 72k on it when it is cold out i hear a thunking coming from the front end of the car but it disappears after a while what is this?

Could be a bad CV axle, but also could be something to do with worn out bushings in the suspension its hard to say wihtout looking at it unfourtanetly.

Tire developed a flat spot from sitting for a long period. Very common in frigid areas.

The tire slowly returns to normal shape as the rubber warms from flexing while driving. If tires are original to vehicle, very good time to replace.

Is it a rapid thump or less often? If it's rapid, could just be a flat spot on your tire from sitting in the cold, otherwise probably suspension.
