This was mentioned at another droid forum and was wondering why it hasn't been brought up more often. Received my droid a couple days after it came out was pleasantly pleased with it until the first upgrade. One of the reasons I purchased the droid was the ability to tether and was told the first upgrade would allow that, well that went down the tubes, but there was a way around that as you probably know by now. I had my doubts about the upgrade but there were a couple glitches that it actually resolved. My d/l speeds on my 20mb wireless wifi before the upgrade were 11mb plus, after the upgrade I could rarely break 3mb, mostly high 2's. Apps used to d/l in a heart beat, youtube videos could be watched without interruption, music d/l's were blazing fast. Now.......slow d/l's, video streaming interruptions and slower browsing. I had a three-way conversation with an upper tier verizon tech and an engineer at motorola. All the motorola tech could say was "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, hopefully soon we'll be able to look into this issue". Now stop and think for a second. Big corporations are in it first, for the money and second, pacifying the consumer. At first I thought it was a verizon issue. I figured verizon didn't want their customers having such fast speeds, that they could charge for at a later time and make some easy money. But it actually boils down to motorola and their software. But.........motorola, verizon and google could've gotten together and said wait a minute, 11mbs is just a bit too fast so soon. I've built a few computers in my days and have the latest wireless router runnin at 20mbs. My three laptops upstairs still operate at max speeds, but the droid? Nope. Take care all.
