My husband recently had what his doctor said was an infected thrombosis in his upper thigh/glutenal region. He was in excrudiating pain and it felt like he had a golf ball under his skin when we took him strait to a surgeon. They drained it imediately. We were told that it was about two days from bursting and that if that would have happended, his life would have been at risk. He feels much better now. My concern is that no tests have been ordered to find out why this happened? Shouldn't we look into the cause? If so, what type of Dr. should we make an appointment with? We have a PPO, so we can start anywhere without a referral.
