Throat sore for 6 months!

My throat has been sore for 6mhs now, also it is swollen on the left side where my tonsils would have been, Ive been to 4 doctors and the dentist twice they didnt seem concerned tho, have had penicilin and they didnt help, its driving me crazy now so much that Im thinking of paying to go private!
Anyone throw any light on this, could it be that Im so aware of it and keep swallowing that it wont go away?

Allergies can cause prolonged but minor post nasal drip that you may not even be aware of but it's primary symptom is a sore throat that won't go away.

Try some decongestants and see if they help...anti-histamines too. If it doesn't help, that at least rules out allergies as a cause.
