Throat and Lymph node Irritation

My throat has been bothering me for the past week. The left side of my throat right where the back of my mouth meets my esophagus where my tonsils would be has been killing me. Every time I swallow it hurts only the left side of my throat. Last night I looked and there were a few white spots on the irritated area. I have been going to a lake a lot and swimming in it, I don't know if that would have anything to do with it or not. My lymph node on the left side of my neck under my jaw is slightly swollen as well. A few days ago my throat was more sore than usual and I had a fever. Does any one have any idea what this could be?
