Thoughts on the Huawei Ascend...

don't know if anybody got thier ascend's today but we get ours tomorrow but won't be able to activate one until sat due to software issues. i'll let you know what i can tomorrow. seems like a decent phone even though it royaly screws up the pricing for the rest of the phone line.

It's said to have a 3.5 inch screen, like the Zio, but the screen looks smaller to me. Does it look the same size as the Zio to you?

The Accend also looks a little shorter than the Zio. Nothing wrong with that, just something different, but that's probably why the screen looks a little smaller. I just want to know if it's as snappy, if not snappier than the Zio, and if the screen is more responsive.

Have one in my hand right now. Much nicer than the ZIO. Faster, better feel too it. Looks much higher end than the ZIO. The 9 screen homescreen is pretty cool too. You can scroll it sideways or up and down.

The resolution is not as good as the zio. How is it though? Does it look clear? How is the keyboard? Probably better than the zio right? Last question: is there anything you dont like about it?

I personally think the screen looks better on the Ascend. As to the kb it comes with Swype preloaded. Havent noticed anything bad about it yet. Power button is on the left side..thats odd but not bad. Charging port is at the top under the same door as the ear piece. Again odd, but remains to be seen whether its bad or not.

It has a lower res screen and slower processor. Runs on Android 2.1 though. ALso, a bit bigger for those big hanRAB. I personally don't like the form factor feels like a cheap China made phone, with hookey push buttons. Again you can't beat the price for $150..

Yeah, I know the processor is slower, but when you look at the one video it looks super fast for some reason. The screen resolution is the same as the original iPhone in 2007, but I don't remeraber what that looked like. I think it is made in China, so it is going to be made with cheap materials, as it is at a cheap price point. I think one of the reviews said it felt like it wouldn't survive a drop..

Overall, it seems like a nice phone though.

It's probably just 2.1, that OS is supposed to be faster than 1.6. There are rumors going around that Zio users will get 2.1 by the end of the week. I don't know if that's true or not.

Personally, I love my Zio. It does freeze sometimes (mostly from the video player for some reason) but does so many things well. When I have an event or appointment I just add it to my Google calendar and without even thinking about it my phone adRAB it as well. I'm a commuter and it's great using that time to watch my Youtube subscriptions, play some games (I love Fruit Ninja), keep up with news, check Facebook, listen to music, or watch a video off the microSD card. ToMarket is a great app when I go shopping, it keeps track of the prices of items and can give me a total when I add things to my "cart."

Video look excellent on its screen and I like the design of the phone. I have a red snap on cover and it certainly benefits from the extra weight but still lighter than most phones.
