This came to me while browsing another thread. Are there any actors, who you were surprised to hear were still alive?

Doris Day - I thought she had died years ago, but upon Googling found out that she has been running an animal sanctuary for the last 30 odd years, and is alive and well!

Gloria Stuart - Old Rose in Titanic, celebrated her 100 birthday last month.


Or vice versa where you were surprised to learn an actor you thought was alive died years ago. Obvious ones like Chris Farley and River Phoenix, but I was surprised that Michael Carmine, who played Carlos in Batteries Not Included(amongst other films) died aged 30 of heart failure.
 
I was surprised to find out a while back that David Graf (Tackleberry from the Police Academy movies) was dead.He died back in 2001
 
I was surprised to hear there are a handful of silent movie stars still alive

Don't know why, then he turned up in a new film and I was like "Ohhh" ..

Think I'd even made a reference to someone about "Them both being dead" now when I watched True Romance and he's doing the scenes with Chris Penn...

... Who I hope is dead also (not 'cos I want him to be, just 'cos I think he is)
 
me and my cousin were huge fans of River Phoenix when we were younger,& we always used to say we'd travel to America to meet him... i thought of him a few months ago & looked him up and found out he was actually dead a year before we were born :O
 
Indeed, Chris died 4 or 5 years ago.

It wasn't until recently that I discovered, contrary to what I'd assumed, Shirley Temple is very much alive! Same for Doris Day a few years earlier.
 
Given the misfortune suffered by many of the characters in the series, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Conrad Bain who played the dad in Diff'rent Strokes is still with us aged 87.

The actress who played the housekeeper Mrs Garrett is also still going strong (ish) at 84
