I had a spinal fusion 12 years ago for scoliosis. I'm wondering if it would be ok (or even possible) to do pilates?

I'm not sure if it would be as the pilates positions and movements use alot of spine movement. You'll want to find a pilates expert who can comment on who should and should not participate.

hi ament...i was just wondering how many levels were fused? i am fused from t2-t8 (broke my back in a car accident). i am 6 months post-op now. i was told i could do minimal pilates type exercises. i have not attempted anything yet, as i have only been off my pain medication for a week now. but they tell me i can do leg work and trunk work as long as my back is completely supported...laying down exercises are probably ok. but of course check with your doctor or even a physical therapist FIRST.

as mentioned above, i am very interested in the extent of your surgery. i assume you still have all your hardware in (not removed). it has been hard for me to find anyone with as extensive thoracic fusion as mine, so i am looking forward to hearing back from you.
