I need help. I have been having midback/body spasms for almost fifteen years with a constant nagging ache in the middle of my back. I also have tingling sensations in my right hand and foot. I've had two CT scans of the chest that were negative. I can't get an MRI because my insurance keeps refusing it. The spasms and pain are increasing. The doctor is requiring me to go to physical therapy which just exacerbates the problem. What should I do? I know something is wrong and I can't get any answers? This is definitely affecting my quality of life. I found something called intermittent paravertebral spams which sounRAB like my problem. Please help!

Sorry about your back pain, I can totally relate. I had thoracic back pain for almost 20 years before I was diagnosed. After a recent MRI, turns out I have Spinal Epidural Lipomatosis. Fatty tumors pressing on the nerves in my spine. Had surgery to remove the tumors and I am waiting for the nerves to calm down to see if it worked. Anyway, it is rare, but this could be a cause of your pain. I also had the nurabness and tingling down my arms into my hanRAB. Unfortunately, an MRI is the only way to confirm this diagnosis. Good luck to you!

Thank you so much for your response. I'll certainly investigate spinal epidural lipomatosis. I'm having an MRI next week. Hopefully, it will show the cause of my pain.
