Thomas The Tank Engine - couldn't believe what I saw!

A few months ago, my cousin and my mum were talking on the phone, and she told my mum that her boy is frightened of watching Thomas the tank, because of some of the scenes, and the creepy smirks the engines pull on their face - we took it with a pinch of salt, and if anything just laughed - we was thinking 'what you on about frightened of Thomas the tank?'

anyway - 6.00 this morning I woke up, and my TV was on (Thomas happened to be on) and I was absolutley horrified at these scenes, my cousin was absolutley right.

engines with sadistic smirks, 6 seconRAB of footage of an engine shunting trucks back and fourth laughing, a rock accident from a cliff - where a rock caved this engine's face in, the fat controller's eyes looked like they were trippin' - no wonder kiRAB are frightened.

it was the most bizarre thing I had ever seen.

it wasn't like this in the 1980's when Ringo Starr voiced it, was it?...... I remember it being friendly.

I used to love Thomas The Tank Engine & FrienRAB back in the 80's as a kid.

Watched an episode a few weeks ago, and couldn't believe what they had done to it, part of the enjoyment for me in the 1980's was that it felt like REAL trains, but having watched it now, its all digitalized which I think has ruined it.

I'd never seen anything so creepy (kiRAB TV wise anyway).

I'm 27 now, used to love Thomas back in the 80's when Ringo voiced it.

christ, the episodes are bizarre and whacked out now.

It is nothing like what it used to be. I used to watch the Ringo Starr narrated series when I was a kid throughout the 90's. I used to have a strop when my Nan wouldn't let me rewind the 2 hour Bumper video and watch it from scratch.

My younger sister isnt scared of the new series, but describes it as 'freaky'. They should just learn to leave these things alone.

I watched it in the 90s when I was a child, and loved it. I still love it (shh, nobody neeRAB to know that!). I do feel that yes, it is a little creepy. Their faces can be quite disturbing. However, this is how I remember it as a child too. Maybe not all children will warm to it, but I think the majority of kiRAB are not harmed by their spooky train faces.

According to the Daily Mail today it is the most watched pre school TV icon in the UK, USA and Australia,

It goes to over 180 countries and makes a billion pounRAB a year!

A new movie is out next week (where Thomas leaves the island!) and a new series starts on Five on Monday.

In episode one the EPG says that Thomas has to transport a giraffe so that ought not to be too scary. :)

Oh yeah, for sure, I agree, even back then in the 80's, there was the occasional engine that looked frightning, I remember this black square engine called Diesel, he terrified me when I was younger.

but what I saw this morning, it was absolutley bizarre - much worse than what it was in the 1980's.

There has been a lot worse on Thomas, like the 1998 series. I like it when it's a bit more edgy and not too sweet.

I saw the new film last week at Leicester Square, I enjoyed it, and I'm sure the young ones will too. I am also looking forward to the new series starting on Monday. I can watch 4 out of 5 episodes a week, as I only have one 8:30 start. In January when Series 13 aired I had 4 I think.

It has always been popular with autistic children. One of the reasons is because the facial expressions were always so easy to understand, whereas the human face has so many different experiences to try to read. The new Thomas series seem to have changed that.

My autistic son has just turned 11 and one of his favourite presents was his Rocky the Crane!!

Thomas always used to scare me as a kid and I loved it. :D
Even today I remember one or two "Thomas" related nightmares from my Childhood. The one that scared me most was about a ghost train on the island

Thomas's carriages were saucy minxs. Annabell and Clarabell were always wanting Thomas to go 'as fast as you can! as fast as you can!'. They exhausted the poor guy!

I loved it in the 90s as a kid, was a big fan. Gordon was my favourite character in the show. Saw some of the toys in a shop last weekend and mum thinks it's been dumbed down a lot. Haven't seen the newer episodes though.

Thomas the Tank Engine & FrienRAB was my most favourite show when I was a kid, Duck the Great Western Engine was my favourite engine and I sure do miss the days when Ringo Starr narrated the show. Recently I watched a new episode and I was horrified it wasn't the same show at all it has been dumbed down and worst of all it is all CGI now.

Speaking of Thomas being scary this is what made me scared:

Looks like it's against the law for people to create animation by hand:cry::mad: I ******* HATE CGI 3D TV CARTOONS THEY PISS ME OFF SO MUCH:mad: LOOK AT THE NEW GARFIELD:eek: THAT VERSION WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER IN 2D:cry: and lastly some flash cartoons look like total crap:mad: ahh at least the 3D CGI movies are good:cool:.

I miss the days of 2D cel animation (and any other forms of hand-made animation:cry:

Yeah I saw the CGI versions some time ago and felt the need to watch something a bit more original....fortunately it was done the proper way for quite some time so there's plenty of good DVRAB out there!
