This or That - Movie Board Version (READ THIRD POST) New Question 8/03

Same here! :D I try to eat before the movies too. It's way easier. And they have so many previews that even if you buy food, you will probably finish before the movie anyway. Hehe.

New question: Do you enjoy big stars or prefer movies with unknown actors?

I like seeing movies the first weekend they come out because I will usually forget to see it later as other things in life are happening :sigh: and to me it has so much more appeal that first weekend for some reason lol - thats probably a bit random but anyways....- depends on the movie and anticipation level and money i have at the time :)

I'm an avid member of netflix, so if I don't catch the film in the theater, I'll normally rent it before I buy it. If I love it, I'll run to the store, if I hate it, thank God I didn't waist 25 bucks on it!

depends on the type of movie as to whether you want to be in a crowded cinema or an empty one...

Usually buy when it is a movie I really want. Especially if it has heaps of special features :) I also wait for the dvd sales the shops have - where I can get really great movies that I have wanted for ages for around 12 bucks:) But just like you Anji - I have heaps of dvds I haven't watched yet - mostly due to lack of time and just watching my faves over and over - I like watching a movie that I know the ending like the back of my hand

I take my chances and just buy. I know what I like and I also remember reviews from critics as well as reviews from the board.

Huge ditto to this post! I usually just wait and get the DVDs I want, or think I want, but it usually takes me forever to actually get around to watching a lot of them (partly because I just re-watch the stuff I know I love over and over), and once I finally do, I find sometimes....what a waste and I feel so guilty, lol.

I do most of my home entertainment by renting movies or waiting until it comes out on HBO/Star Movies/Cinemax. I'm deathly afraid that I won't like something, and that has happened before (eg Swimming Pool - or at least I think that's it's title - and The Secret Life of Gustav Klopp). If I really like something though then I'll buy it. That's what happened for The History Boys (which was the first DVD I bought! Yes, I got into the DVD buying habit only recently), and if other movies that I like are cheap then I'll buy it, which is why I have things like Lost in Translation and Match Point as well. So yeah, usually rent, but if I like it then I'll buy it. I don't buy movies I haven't seen.

I try to eat before I go to the theater but if I haven't, I usually get the kids' meal and have it finished before the movie starts. I guess I usually eat or drink something when I'm home, but that's just because I'm always eating.

Thanks for using my question!

My answer: I usually RENT all my movies either through Netflix or MovieGallery. This way, I can watch the movie and decide if I like the movie enough to go and buy it.

I think going to the cinema and getting nachos or popcorn, or having sweets to munch on, is all part of the experience! But to be honest, I can go either/or. Doesn't really matter what film I'm watching, if I'm in the mood, I'll get food or a drink. If I'm not, I won't bother, and my friends and I tend to go eat proper food afterwards. It just depends on what I feel like on that particular day.

At home, I usually always have a cup of tea. Again with food, it just depends on what time it is and if I'm hungry

Next question (suggestion by: Tina)

Entertainment at Home: Buying or Renting?

I'm torn with this sometimes. I hate renting because returning is such a pain, so I buy a lot of movies I haven't seen. But then again, what if it SUCKS??? I usually buy movies I think I'll like and watch again, but that doesn't always pan out and I wasted money. Then again, renting is not cheap and if you don't return in time, you might've as well have bought it. Heh.

Without a doubt I have to see a movie when it first comes out..........even if it's a big blockbuster and the theater is bound to be packed. If I really want to see something I just can't wait. So big crowds aren't a reason that will hold me back.

In some ways I like a big crowd because it's fun seeing/hearing how everyone reacts. However, I can't stand talking, screaming, crying and those type of things during a movie. Very distracting.

Having said all of that.............I do intentionally pick theaters or times of the day when I know it will be less crowded. I prefer smaller crowds for the most part. I like the peace and quiet and total escape that a small crowd generally offers.

Haha, cool! When you crave something, you go for it! I always got Skittles and only eat the red ones, so my best friend finished his and saved me the red ones. Good times. Sometimes eating is half the fun! :D

I don't really have anything fun or original at the moment. If someone wants to make suggestions in a PM that would be fine with me as well :)

I prefer to see them when they first come out, to be at the center of the hype and to be anble to discuss them soon, though going later does give you a smaller audience, I remember a few years ago my mum and I went to see Sweet Home Alabama and we were the only two people in the whole theater it was an amazing experience, but then again I saw Attack of the Clones on the day it came out and I will never forget it, because I felt like I was one of the first people to see this, and that was a really good feeling!

Well when I go to the cinemas I always get popcorn and a drink. Even when I was younger and I had braces and popcorn was not a great idea according to my dentist - i still had it anyway...;) I love it - it's the only time I eat popcorn and its something that I look forward to as well as the movie :D

If you guys cannot think of anything, perhaps you could let posters give you some ideas through PM. :)
