This old lady yells at me for riding my bike? Help?

I'm biking downhill. And I use my bike brakes to slow down when people are in my way and say excuse me politely and thank you. But I'm just a pre teen. Then, this old lady yells at me to get off my bike and walk past her and go on the bike lane. I mean seriously?! But I told her, that the police said that I am aloud to be on the side walk, kids my age because the bike lane is dangerous for us. Then after explaining, she says my attitude stinks?! I was really mad, so I didn't say anything else, because I knew I would cause trouble if I did say something... I dont know what to do, should I go say sorry? Or move on? I really have no idea what to do. I always feel guilty and question myself if I do something.. HELP ME OUT!
She lives in the same community as me. and she takes my bike route so me and my brother pass her sometimes and tells us to get on the road. :/
 
You are fine. She is just grumpy. You did not use profanity or anything like that so you were not disrespectful. And its not like you ran into her or rode over her feet or anything. Just be sure you stay polite and respectful if she or anyone else approaches you again, but i would just try to avoid her or eye contact with her next time.
 
just stay out of her way if she gets after you just say you understand so it seems like you respect her ideas but also have your own
 
I see that you are a Canadian. That should answer your question.

Canadians have a well-deserved reputation for being 'nice'. Part of it comes from saying 'I'm sorry'.

Regardless what the lawyers say, I don't think you'll ever regret saying 'I'm sorry'. Even if you're right. Even if it means 'I'm sorry you're so upset.'

If you can, apologize to her. It'll make a brighter day for both of you.
 
Some old people are grumpy because it's not like the "good old times" anymore.
If she really bothers you, when you see her go in to the bike lane, and as soon as you pass her go back on the path.
Otherwise ignore her, she's grumpy and rude. Don't feel bad when you're doing the right thing. You were being polite, she's the rude one.
