Thank you for your email.

In response to your enquiry, our Studio Manager says:

Whilst there are no current plans for the programme to go HD at any
defined point in the future we can see the benefits both to us as
programme makers and the viewers experience. ITV has built a wealt of
knowledge in transforming shows into HD (Corrie, Emmerdale, Daybreak etc)
this resource is available to us, so when the time is right this could
switch quite quickly.

It neeRAB axing, big time, its over 20 years old. I personally feel that anything over 10 years should be axed regardless. Its would make TV producers hungry for the next big hit rather constantly offerring us old tired boring shows.

going Hd for TM is pointless IMO

Emmerdale has been filmed using HD cameras for a while but post production has yet to go HD. Hence it will be the last soap to go HD.

Hollyoaks was first, then Coronation Street, with East Enders doing so in the next month or so.

Even Neighbours and Home and Away are now HD on Five.

And Holby City (which runs 52 weeks a year so is effectively a soap) went HD last night.

Quite a wedge of ITV1 is now in HD. Most peak time programmes and films are in HD as long with football & daybreak.

Emmerdale is filmed using HD camera but producing SD images. Will go HD early next year. When filming moves.

A studio-based show like This Morning doesn't really gain anything by going HD; The One Show is another example,so is Daybreak. Obviously one day everything will be HD but that requires a huge investment in re-equipping studios and transmission facilities. And as most viewers can't tell the difference between HD and upscaled SD you might wonder why the TV companies bother:eek:
