This July, I'm taking a road trip from LA to Seattle. What is there to do besides

The Columbia River Gorge, on the Washington/Oregon border is an excellent side trip. By car, it would be about a two or three hour detour, with excellent photo opportunities along the way. An even better way would be to take one of the riverboat cruises up and down the river. Look up a site for a company called "Spirit of Portland" for options and prices.

On your way up, from LA, a day trip in San Francisco can be fun and exciting.

I also recommend that at least part of your drive up includes a ride up the coastal highway, anywhere from North of San Francisco to as far as Crescent City.

If not, then a tour of the Wine Country, around Napa and Sonoma.

nature hikes? The only good thing I've heard about Oregon is that Mt. Hood is supposed to be an excellent ski resort. However, I'm going past it in July. So is there anything worth stopping for on the road to Seattle, like a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or something?
...except were taking the 101 as long as we can. oh and im only 20, so wine country wont really work.
