This is complex question about a Ducati 1198?

Hey all.

So, I've been weighing my options with regard to modifying the exhaust system on my 1198 for improved performance, aesthetics, sound, etc. I've decided to go with the Akrapovic slip-on, leaving the stock rear header in place.

Considering that the exhaust valve located on the rear header is purely for noise emission, I've seen people try to modify the header to get rid of it and remove the servo assembly. Some people cut the header open to expose the butterfly valve, remove it, and then weld the pipe together again. I don't have the skills to do this, but I'd like to propose a less invasive solution, and would greatly appreciate your thoughts.

What if you were to remove the spring assembly, do some very minor welding to the exposed nut in order to permanently fix the exhaust valve in an "open" position, remove the servo and cable assembly, and then flash the stock ECU to address the "check engine light"? Does this sound at all like a feasible/beneficial/decent solution? I'd greatly appreciate your insight.
 
sounds like a solution to keep the valve open... would have the same result as removing the valve..

my Duck doesn't have one so its not an issue for me.. so you would have to chat with someone who has removed the valve to know if there's a benefit..

I would do the mod at the same time as I fitted the slip ons... that way could make sure the mapping on the injection is right & giving the most power..
