I'm well into adulthood, but I admit that every year or so, I take out Enid Blyton's school series ("Malory Towers" and "St. Clares") and gobble all 12 of them, one after the other.
Don't ask me why, but it's a weird compulsion I can't escape from. My best girlfriend is the same - and we've both got post-grad qualifications in English!!!
I write fiction for young adults, and my excuse is "oh, I need to analyse how she's written such page-turning stuff" - even though the plots and characters are pretty two-dimensional...
Is there anyone else out there who admits to being a closet Enid fan? If so, which books of hers do you still hungrily hoover?
