For commuting - I had a 1985 one with 50,000 miles on it about 10 years back, it ran fine, but the 6v electrics made it like riding with a dynamo ie lights went off when you stopped. The newer ones are now in my price range, I see you can get a mint low miles 2008 model for about £1500. My question is, the practicality on these seems to have been comprimised, the earlier ones had chain enclosure etc, and could be serviced with a screwdriver and a used toilet roll, are the new ones still made to "last forever" or did Honda get the gist that if you make a bike that lasts forever you won't sell many new ones?
