Thinking of buying a Honda Civic Hybrid because of the mileage. Should I?

I haven't learned how to drive yet. I'm a fast learner and I'm thinking of buying a brand new Honda Civic Hybrid because it's the one car among the most fuel efficient that isn't gosh-darn ugly.

Any other cars that are fuel efficient (that aren't geeky- or robot-looking)? What do I need to know before purchasing this car and what do you recommend I do?
