hey i'm thinking of building my own desktop and i wanna know what sorta things I should get??

Im most likely gonna use it for multitasking.

I will probably get 4 GB of RAM and mabye 3-4 fans as I am gonna try overclocking.
So I needa know:

What brand and model of motherboard I should get (and also some good brands on other components)

What additional things will I need, for initial setup (help with BIOS etc.)

Also im looking at tryin to get it cheap please mabye 600-1000 dollars AUD?

Gigabyte and Asus. They are the premiere motherboard makers. EVGA is also up there, but EVGA mostly produces mobo's for a niche market. Some people like to throw in MSI, but everything that MSI touches breaks. Don't bother with MSI.

For BIOS, you don't need to do anything unless you are overclocking or if you are building a Core i7 setup, because you have to manually set the memory timings and such.

You should get a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 or a Q6600, 4 GB of RAM, decent hard drive, and a 4850 for starters.
