at home? I'm thinking about buying a bike (Suzuki GZ250). We just have too many people in the house and not enough vehicles. I need my own transportation again (truck repo'd and chapter 7 bankruptcy 2 years ago). I've never owned a bike before and need to know where to park it. The garage is one possibility but there are multiple issues surrounding it (driveway usually full, no outside pathway from garage to street, broken latch wire on garage door preventing it from being opened from the outside).
Minor stuff that would be easy to fix if I, or my parents, or anyone else in the household had spare money to fix them at the moment, but we don't. I'm going to college to get my life back on track again, my brother is paying down his old debts, and our parents are planning for their 6 month post-retirement vacation for next year. So I'm thinking that I'm kind of screwed on the garage idea.
The other option is parking it on the street, but that doesn't seem like a smart idea to me either. I've seen a lot of people riding their bikes through our neighborhood over the years, but I rarely ever see one parked outside next to the sidewalk. Not sure if that is to protect the bike from damage or from theft or what, but I'm guessing there has to be a good reason for it, otherwise most people would, right?
What do you think? Any ideas on where I should park the bike? Garage? Street? Anywhere else?
