Think Verizon would let me swap numbers?

I currently have 4 Verizon phones, one of which I don't need (my father passed away). However, that contract is up in December and I'm sick of paying a fee for it each month.

Another phone my wife uses has an expired contract. I could cancel my wife's phone and then hand her my father's phone that I don't need, BUT she'd lose her phone number that she's very attached to.

Does anyone have any idea if its possible to get Verizon to swap the phone numbers so that I can cancel one of these phones and save some money each month? (And without extending any contacts... I plan to completely ditch Verizon in December once the contracts expire, and go with Net10 phones.)

You should be able to cancel your father's line. Death is an acceptable reason for terminating a contract early. Verizon might require the death certificate, though.

Did you get to swap the numbers? I'm about to do the same my contract expires in June, So does my fathers contract "both are under my fathers name".I want to be to able drop my plan and join the family sharing plan with my number. But he wants to drop his phone out he no longer needs it his work place got him one, witch might be a problem with his number as his the primary? Thats what someone told me..

It will be a problem as he is the contract holder. I would get your own plan and at the same time ask them if while doing this if you can use your old number on this plan.

Well, yeah since he is the contract holder. But since he passed away, automatically the contract terminates. The company will help you out in any way :)
