Hello,
I'm an infantryman in the army and I recently got an article 15 and I'm currently waiting to find out if I'm getting chaptered out. Long story short, a few weeks after returning from Iraq I was driving with two other soldiers in my platoon when I was pulled over. The two other soldiers I was with had weed on them and the police searched the car, found the drugs and arrested us. They immeditaly turned us over to the MPs and even though I didn't test positive for anything, buy and even touch any drugs I knew the other two soldiers had them on them when I was pulled over so I recieved an article 15, was reduced in rank from E-4 to E-1 and did my 45/45 (they didn't take any money). The other two guys who had drugs just found out they are being chaptered out (general discharge under honorable conditions) but my chapter packet was just turned in. One of the other soldiers and I were both told that they decided not to chapter us out however I guess they changed their mind with the other guy and now he is being chaptered. I was told even though they do not plan on chaptering me I still needed to complete a chapter packet because the incident involved drugs. I was told before they decide my fate they'll look at my records, talked to my current, former chain of command, ect. I know my 1SGT is trying to help me out as much as possible and not get my chaptered, we have a new CO so I'm not sure what he's going to say, and everyone else up the chain doesn't even know me. My 1SGT said I can get letters from my old PL, squad leader and team leader who I went to Iraq with which will help my case. Also, I've been in the army for four years and this is the first time I've ever gotten in trouble, I've never even gotten a negative counseling before. I came in the army as an E-3, was waviered to E-4 early, went to WLC and got on the commandants lists, deployed to Iraq for 15 months and was awarded for valor in Baghdad. I have a 300 PT score, qualified expert on three weapons, ect. Also when I was in Iraq I reenlisted to go to RIP and 2nd Ranger Batt (which became void after I recived my article 15) but right now I'm on assignment to Fort Polk. So basicly I'm just wondering if you guys think that I will still get chaptered out or if they'll let me stay in? Thanks.
