think i bricked my u740

I got this u740 and i switched it to cricket and made internet and picture messaging work and everything worked perfectly on it. Then I decided I wanted to have cricket clicks work for it too so I change the brew settings. After it wrote to the phone and reset it started acting up and now it cuts off and reboots and as soon as it gets ready to go to the main screen it cuts off and does it over again.

So did i mess up my phone for good or is there a way to fix it?

Also I have had the same problem with a few phones including the Sam a970 and the Voyager. If you can get into the erabedded file system in the phone and find the file that has the brew settings and overwrite it with the stock file it should work again. that's how I saved the Voyager. And I have a U740 that's stuck in bootloader mode that I'm gonna try to fix as soon as i find the battery for it, but i never messed with the brew settings on it.
 
I wish I could but unfortunately it's stuck in endless reboot mode and there's no way I can connect it to the PC w/o it being on. So I guess I answered my own question and it is bricked :(
 
Unforunately I have searched and searched and searched but still haven't come up with any results on how to enter bootloader mode. Maybe it just doesn't work with this phone. :( Oh well, tomorrow's another day. I'll try again later. Thanks for your help though.
 
So the u740 says this when i start it:

It also says "Image invalid" below Emergency... when I turn it on with 5 pressed.
My Device manager shows that both the modem and the Diagnostic Serial Port are working, but i can't begin to read it with SPST, SPST Lite, QPST, UniCDMA, or Bitpim.

Any ideas?
 
Just a thought ... when i have my u740 off and plugged to pc with charger connected too i can still access phone with qpst ... (although i still haven't resovled my *228 problem) ... perhaps you can get into the phone that way.

My phone says about the same thing. My u740 boots up saying
Download Restarted
Emergency @ USB

Bootblock Version:
u740:AF25.1

I wish I knew how to do anything with it, but so far I can't get programs to recognize the port it is plugged into. At first my screen was black, but now it's white. I wish that was more comforting. Anybody?
 
turn it off.

try these


hold 9 and press power

hold 7 and press power

hold 5 and press power

one of those should put the phone in emergency mode. then flash firmware and dont mess it up again :-)
 
the only thing i can tell u is try to flash a different firmware... you'll lose everything though :\
Idk if you already tried that or not.

The one i had wasn't fixable so I just used it for spare parts

to get into emergency mode press 9 and the power button and connect your u740 to the pc and use samsung pst and try to flash a new firmware.

I know how you can get it fixed! My phone was saying a lot of the same stuff, just a different software was running on it (that's why my phone said AF25.1 as the bootlock instead of whatever yours said). I took my phone into a place called Wireless Giant where a guy has been doing this for years. I talked to him a bit on the phone and he is helping me out a lot. He hooked my phone up to his computer, and he is an authorized dealer, so he gets all the files from Samsung, direct. He pulled up my exact firmware, loaded it onto my phone, it hit 100%, and then he said, "Give it three minutes." I didn't lose my banner, my screensaver, or my contacts! It was freaking sweet! I left my phone with him because he can set it up so WAP and MMS work on it. I know that doesn't help you very much, but you can rest assured that you bricked your phone, but it's not the end of the tunnel! Seek professional help! This guy said he would charge me $40 for everything. Small price to pay for the trouble if you ask me.
