They should make a CGI Robocop animated series.

It would be faithful to the original 1987 sci-fi classic and would be perfect for Spike TV since it would be an adult animated series loaded with language and gore like the original movie.

Who are "they"? And I think that the Sci-Fi Channel would be a better choice than Spike, since they aired the reruns of the syndicated RoboCop series.

Every single attempt at doing anything with Robocop since the original, save for Robocop vs. Terminator, has been a trainwreck.

Besides, the license seems to be in a bizzare limbo.

That may be because they keep trying to water it down and dumbify it into generic sci-fi action crap. The original movie was acidic, satiric, and gleefully sick, and Peter Weller's performance held it together. Murphy's struggle to reclaim his humanity amid everything being done to him that could possibly dehumanize him - being gruesomely picked off, resurrected as a would-be corporate tool, losing his wife and son in the wake of his death, to finally having to take out Boddicker and his cronies for good - gave everything else in the film more weight, IMO.

Unfortunately, every spinoff they've done lacks any of that and just milks out the same old cliche elements that they were poking fun at back in 1987 - corrupt businessmen, big brutish killer robots, psychotic drug runners, Dirty Harry justice - without ANY of the spirit or imagination of that first film.

The last Robocop movie and the the syndicated Robocop series were each over 10 years ago. Why would "they" (whoever "they" are) even want to do a new Robocop series so late in the game?

I think we really need to stop using phrases "THEY don't make cartoons like they use to" or "THEY should make another Mario Bros cartoon" or "why don't THEY bring back good cartoons".

Anyways, I'm not sure how well a Robocop cartoon would work. It would have to be VERY over-the-top to be entertaining. It could probably work on Sci-Fi.
