Theres a really sharp pain in my neck and its excruciating?

Like im not sure why this is happening like an hour ago i was fine but for some reason my neck started to hurt like crazy and i started massaging it but it didn't help and now its hurting like the pain is indescribable.
What does this mean? Is there something i can do to stop the pain?
And please dont say ice and heat packs because they just dont work
