There's a cat in my garden - is there something wrong with him?

I watched him come over the fence, he seemed pretty lethargic but was able to jump onto the fence pretty easily. We've got a pretty overgrown garden and he's sort of made like a burrow/shelter in the hedge and gone under it. I opened the backdoor and he popped his head out so he's definitely alert, and I can see him licking himself from the upstairs windows.
It's quite a sunny and warm day so I'm thinking he might just be a little hot and trying to cool himself down. He's got a collar on so he's not a stray. Should I just leave him be until he's ready to leave himself? I don't mind him being out there I was sort of just wondering if this was normal behaviour for a cat?
Come to think of it, I'm calling it a "he" but it's possible it might be a girl. I've heard they tend to make nests if they're gonna give birth. Is it possible it's pregnant? Would it have been able to climb the fence if it was? It's a good 6 foot ...

yep thats normal for cats, they tend to go to places away from their homes. He might be tired in the heat or old, just keep an eye out in case he needs some water or something
