"There will be blood " ... ending !!??

Just the manifestation of his mentality - I thought that if Eli had stood his ground and not denied his faith, then he wouldn't have been murdered.

Go on then, how the heck WOULD you have ended it??

I love the whole film and the last two scenes (Daniel with H.W. and the interpreter and then, of course, what's probably known as the 'milkshake' scene) are unbelievably brilliant. 'Bastard from a basket!' The acting is maybe better in the adult H.W. scene than the last scene, there's so much going on with the characters and yet at the same time nothing. Daniel is one of the greatest screen creations.

One of my favourite lines in the last scene is when Daniel shouts 'I told you I would eat you!' because you then realise that that's what he must have whispered to him earlier on in the church'. I think killing Eli is the only way to end it because, like he says, he's 'finished', there's nothing more.

It's probably his intense method acting style. I'm sure he could do double the number of films but I bet he'd feel he wasn't doing himself justice in half of them.

In The Name Of The Father, Last of the Mohicans, My Left Foot, Gangs Of New York - all classic performances. His next film, Nine, is a musical so that'll show another side to him. If he pulls off that role I'm guessing he could be up for another Oscar.
