there is something wrong with my iPhone?

i was texting a Friend a few hours ago and i put my phone on the table maybe less then half an hour later it would not turn on and none of the buttons worked. i thought it was dead so i put in on my charger and nothing happened, it wasn't`t saying it was charging, and i hooked it up on my cpu to see if itunes would turn it on or something but it never connected to itunes, what should i do
