There is not enough free memory on your device to synchronize...PLEASE HELP

Hello,

I have been trying to sync my Palm Treo with Windows mobile 6.1 with Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 Laptop via Windows Mobile Device Center v6.1.6965. The Treo has 981 Contacts, 6185 Calendar entries going back to about 2003 with notes and a number of open Tasks. I can get my Contacts to Sync, but then it appears to be syncing the Calendar for about 30 minutes and then Windows Mobile Device Center produces an error that says "There is not enough free memory on your device to synchronize information. Close programs that are running to free up memory, or restart device." I have no programs running on the device and I have tried even doing a hard reset and only restoring my PIM information via a backup on the MicroSD card, so there is not much on the device using memory. The Treo's memory stats are as follows:
Storage:Total = 339.48MB, In use = 43.40, Free 295.71 and Programs:Total = 75.52, In use = 39.88 and Free = 35.65. Outlook is 2007, has no information in it, because it is a brand new .pst file.

I really need to get this information into Outlook or have some ability to get it into my new smartphone. I figured that I could sync it with Outlook and then sync the new phone with Outlook. Please, can anyone help me fix this or offer me another way to get this information either into Outlook or directly into my new phone?
