Just put a dvd player in my car. it was running fine the first day, then i noticed a high pitch whine. the whine goes up in pitch and down in pitch with the engine revs. is this caused by a power surge or something? how can i eliminate this noise. i thought i could ignore it, but come on, its just unprofessional. any thoughts or ideas would help greatly.
i have an amp running four interior speakers and an amp running two subs. the dvd player has a seperate "brain"
this noise is only made when the engine is running. when the car is off, there is only beautiful sound. my buddies suggest it could the water pump or fuel pump noise getting picked up by the head unit. some say its through the antennae but i don't have one hooked up. what does anyone think about this?

This is because of a bad ground somewhere. Check to make sure they are free of paint to get a good clean metal contact to the ground wire. If it was fine before and just started something could be touching the ground wire. check and re-ground.
