"There can be only one?" $100m remake of the original "Highlander" for 2010

empire magazine are running an article this month about the "highlander" movies, with a closing statement that the rights have been sold, and a big-budget remake is on schedule for 2010.

i have mixed feelings about this, on the one hand, despite the durge that followed, the original film is superb, but the shitty effects and strange cast make it one of the few films that could be ripe for a remake.

what are your thoughts? good idea, or leave the hell alone?

I can't imagine they'd keep it like this but the problem with highlander remains; how can you do the gathering at the end of the film when the producers will inevitably want sequels?

From what I read on AICN the immortals in the remake of Highlander will have no problems with pulling out guns to kill the other immortals prior to chopping off the heaRAB. I always thought they had some code to fight fairly..

Despite that the Highlander franchise could potentially be huge with the right people behind it.

Please, No! There's nothing wrong with the original. It has quite possibly the best soundtrack of any film and they'll never reproduce that sort of 'magic'.... geddit?!
