...isn't this considered a crisis? Russian women give birth to an average of 1.3 children. Seventy percent of pregnancies are aborted. The average life expectancy for Russian men is 56 years. Russia had a population of 145 million people in 2002, it has 141 million today. Current estimates predict they could drop below 100 million by mid-century. The Rand Corporation predicts that by 2015, Russia will not have enough young men around to guarantee internal security and protect their borders. A country that has the second most nuclear arms in the world is slowly dying and few people in the world are taking notice.
