The Yakuza and other good yakuza films

This is on ITV later, but iv never seen it. Is it worth the three hours watch?


Iv been wanting to see a good yakuza film. Iv played the videogames the last few months which had some very good storys, for a videogame. So i have the urge to see some good yakuza films. Does anybody have any suggestion?



PS: I don't mind subtitle films

Three hours? The full US version is only 123 minutes. The UK one is 107 minutes. Even ITV can't make it last three hours.

There was a yakuza film on a couple of weeks ago on ITV4. oh, hang on, that was The Yakuza that was on again yesterday.

I do remember a yakuza film being on late night on ITV1 about three weeks ago. oh, hang on, that was The Yakuza as well

Do ITV only own 12 films?

It's a good film, well worth the watch. I'm sure it'll be shown on ITV again if you missed it, several times I'd imagine.

The American Yakuza

Anything by Takeshi Kitano, especially Hana Bi, Sonatine, Boiling Point. His films are a must. Just don't go near Brother, it's terrible.

Also check out some Takeshi Miike films like Rainy Dog(one of my favourites from the director).

Then there is a classic film by Seijun Suzuki called Tokyo Drifter. His Youth of the Beast is worth seeing too.
