The Xbox One's November 22th, 2013 retail release is the return shot in the next generation home video game console war that begins with the PlayStation 4's November 15th arrival. This time around, Microsoft doesn't have a one-year release advantage to combat Sony; it also lacks a price advantage. The Xbox One (with a bundled Kinect 2.0) will cost $499 while the camera-less PlayStation 4 will retail for $399.
So, the Xbox One arrives a week later than its main competitor and costs $100 more. That's certainly the kiss of death for Microsoft's latest console, right?
Not necessarily.
Say what you will about those issues (and Microsoft's initial, DRM-laden game policies that were quickly removed after the predictable backlash), but it's hard to deny the Xbox One's launch day lineup. The Xbox One sports numerous enticing, exclusive day-one titles that will let gamers engage in hard-hitting combat, thrilling races, and intense shooting action.
Our recommended Xbox One launch games are the titles that will carry you through to 2014 (the year when the really hot games will begin to pop up in stores and the Xbox Live digital marketplace).
That said, many day-one third-party Xbox One titles are intergenerational games that also appear on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Naturally, the Xbox One versions will likely have graphical improvements and/or extra game modes, but don't expect a radical change. Some critics may state that the Xbox One's launch library isn't very strong, but if you're an early adopter who must have Microsoft's latest video game console as soon as humanly possible, consider these the must-have titles.
As always, please let us know your Xbox One lineup thoughts in the comment section below. Which games are you looking forward to playing on the Xbox One's launch day?
