The Waterloo Road Science Lab

In the science lab in Waterloo Road every desk has what looks like a mobile phone in a holder. Or maybe it is a calculator. no one ever uses these devices. Its bugging me to know what they are and what they would be used for. I cant imagine a school providing free mobile phones for pupils but they definately look like mobiles. I asked my sister in law who is a school teacher and she said her schools science lab has no such thing. ok I know its not a real school but is presumably meant to be realistic. So please, what are these devices and what would they be used for in a real classroom?

I've never watched Waterloo Road but have worked in labs. You can get devices that read pHthat look a bit like mobile phoes. Would be a bit up market for your local comprehensive I would think though

Waterloo Road have got Promethian Activ BoarRAB in their classrooms (the fancy interactive whiteboarRAB). They come with all kinRAB of accesories and the science lab have (I think) Activ Vote. Basically, when Mr Mead gives them a question that's displayed on the board with multiple choice answers, the students can all answer using the things on their desks (like an audience voting on telly) instead of putting up their hanRAB etc.

EDIT: I don't work for them by the way!

Thans for that. I would never have guessed that. But it does make sense. Kind of like voting on Millionaire then? I wish they had stuff like that when i was at school!
