The "watch, review and recommend a movie" thread

I thought it'd be a good idea to make a thread where you can suggest movies for others to watch after you've seen them , where you can review them without having to make a whole thread about it. I know the "last movie you watched" thread sort of fills the purpose but on there the descriptions are very brief and are often negative so people might not watch the movies suggested on there. And I think it'd also be good if a movie is recommened that if others do watch it they can give their opinions of it on here too (so have what could be a miniscule movie club type thing).

I'll start with one , The Bubble aka HaBuah.

It's an Israeli film (don't stop reading!) and a friend lent it to me as they said that it was a good movie but after reading the synposis on IMDB I thought it's be another overtly sentimental, overly romanticised Brokeback Mountain type (which is a film that I loathe with a passion) soppy drama. I couldn't have been more wrong though , I think this is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It was actually one of the few times that I've noticed features of a film other than just the acting and the storyline , everything from the music to shot selection to the sound effects were perfect for that particular scene and I thought that what had the potential to be a cheesy plot was actually incredibly engaging and coherent.

I thought it offered a very interesting view on the Palestine/Israel conflict and the characters were very believable. The basic story is about two guys , one an Israeli and one an Arab and and their two frienRAB , another guy and a girl. Obviously the plot centres around the relationship of the former two and how politics and stuff affects them (and I don't normally like movies like this although that could be due to Hollywood romanticising every bloody event) .I don't wanna give too much away , you can read the synopsis on IMDB although I must stress that it doesn't do the film justice , I thought it was gonna be a load of crap just from reading that. The ending has to be one of the most depressing endings in film history ever , very thought provoking and unlike other films on the subject I didn't feel like there was any bias or that there was any preaching. Even today I've been feeling depressed even though it had been hours since I'd seen it!

Don't let the fact that it's not an English language film put you off , you can easily find one with subtitles (whether you pay for it or get it off pirate bay) and it's too good a movie to be missed IMO. :)

Anyone else have a review and recommendation? :)
