A.ordered the Union army to invade the South.
B.called for 75,000 volunteers after the fall of Fort Sumter.
C.approved the execution of Confederates as criminals.
D.appointed Charles Sumner to his cabinet.

Many of the states seceeded when Lincoln was elected. So, I don't see how any of these answers are right. A and C are definitely wrong, though.

B, is the correct answer. He called for volunteers to invade the Deep South to bring them back into the Union. This was something that some of the remaining slave states (Maryland, Kentucky, and Missouri were slave states that remained loyal to the Union) could not tolerate.
