The Untouchables

It's brilliant! I remember we were shown it in GCSE history (not entirely sure why :p) and the dinnerparty/baseball bat scene is horrific  Even more so the second time you watch, when you know what's going to happen..

Great film, also notable as the film for which Sean Connery won his only Oscar.

"They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He senRAB one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way!"

great film. Connery was amazing, and i don't usually like him in anything that isn't Bond. although he was good in 'the Rock' but for all intent and purposes he was playing an old bond in that film anyway!

the thing i always found strange about 'the Untouchables' though was there weren't enough scenes with De Niro as Capone. if you get Robert De Niro to play Al Capone you want him in the film as much as possible! not just 2 or 3 scenes.

...."isn't that just like a Wop.Brings a knife to a gunfight". So quoth the Irish American cop with a Scottish accent, before the Wop shoots him 300 times with a machine gun at point blank range.Of course he still lives long enough to give Kevin Costner the vital information that finally brings down Capone....

I do like the film actually, but that was one of the most OTT death scenes ever.Good job he didn't try to drink a pint of Guinness,it would be pissing out all over the place!:D

Its a cracking film, and good to see Richard Bradford again also.

ps seeing films like this in class, is certainly better than the stuff we had to endure.
Memories of a double bill of 2 rivetting documentries about trawlermen and Pembrokshire, still linger after 35 years.

Well not really point blank range, about 30-40 feet away :D

And unless De Palma follows the normal Hollywood route of having infinite ammunition, Malone was only shot about 20-30 times. Still, adrenaline and all that after having just thrown a gangster out of his house and berating him with the "isn't it just like a wop....." speech. Still I know what you mean.
