Hispanic Cultures, is this bad? The United States is a very individualistic nation, while Mexico, is very collectivist. (Asian nations are the most collectistivic nations) A fellow teacher at our school, born in Mexico always says to me "I can't believe you people frown on showing emotion". In Mexico, people are not told to supress their emotions, men are allowed to cry. In The U.S., people, esp. males are told to supress their emotions, is this the reason sports are so popular? Because our society does not "punish" the male when showing emotion when at sports venues, however, U.S. society non verbally does punish men who cry. (they are called effiminate, or gay).
