The discussion was why Republicans vote against their economic interests in the south, which is even more odd considering they used to vote with their economic interests even though a larger federal government was involved

Conservatives aren't emotional... until you bring up the subject of religion, gay marriage, gun control, social security, healthcare, the economy, and the myriad of other issues going on in this country. The durabfuck masses of both parties are highly emotional creatures, so you're wrong, conservatives are just as emotional as liberals and vice-versa. The only difference seems to be that republicans are much easier to anger than liberals, especially the radicals.
